Early one morning in Corfu, I took a walk along the coastal path from Roda towards Acharavi. It was an incredibly bright morning and there was a haze in the air. The mountains of Albania, 20 miles to the north were not visible, and the hills of Corfu over the bay to the east were barely so. The sea was white, the sky was white. I shot this photo facing east across the bay, the sun just out of shot to the right. It was fairly low in the sky, it being before 9am.
The image is straight out of camera, apart from a bit of straightening of the horizon (I have never managed to get a photo with a straight horizon straight out of camera. Perhaps I have wonky eyes).
I have no idea how come it has come out white. It was not converted to monochrome, it just came out this way. It is a wonderful capture, and it is the lonely boat that makes it. The accidental nature of the image really amuses me. I thought about the composition, but I think if it had come out with a bright blue sky and sea, it would not have half the impact that this image has. I don’t know if the weather conditions were typical of the area or not, but they were unusual to me.
I think I will add this to my short list of greetings cards that I am going to get printed. If you know me, you may get this as your next birthday card!

This will make a fantastic greetings card.
I hope to start making some greetings cards this year.
