We spent a gorgeous spring day at Nostell Priory, a National Trust property near Wakefield. The gardens and parkland included a lake with this gorgeous bridge leading over the outflow.
This was a difficult image. It took a lot of wandering around to get a half-decent composition, but I got it in the end, half decent, that is! It was a little lacking in contrast straight out of camera, and it was a somewhat flat, overly green affair. I increased contrast with a bit of an S-curve and reduced the saturation a little bit. It is still very green, but it’s a paler, more yellow green, and the brown water looks much more like I remember it.

Funnily enough Mike, you’ve met the curator of Nostell Priory at one of my Christmas parties.
Ah yes, I think I remember. It’s an amazing place. I love the collection of odds and ends that you see in the final room before leaving.
Hi Mike, I came across some of your work on Flickr and would like to see if you’d be interested in licensing a photo for use in marketing materials. Don’t know if you’ve gotten my tweet replies about it or not… If you could, email me at jstraub@jacobsonrost.com and we can discuss. Thanks!
